Daimon Robotics (Daimon (Shenzhen) Robotics Technology Co., Ltd.) spun out of robotics research at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Founder and CEO Dr. Duan Jianghua and co-founder/chief scientist Professor Wang Yu — founding dean of HKUST's Robotics Institute — built the company around a thesis most humanoid makers underweight: dexterous manipulation requires tactile intelligence, not just cameras and LLMs.
Daimon's core hardware is a millimeter-thick, mass-producible optical tactile sensor that lets robot fingertips perceive 3D force, sliding, texture, and hardness. That feeds into Vision-Tactile-Language-Action (VTLA) manipulation models and the Daimon One humanoid platform (marketed on robixone as Daimon Humanoid) — roughly 170 cm tall, built for fine manipulation rather than warehouse brute force. Public demos include slicing tofu and releasing flower petals from a hand in response to human breath.
The company is as much a tactile-components business as a humanoid maker. Daimon sells vision-based tactile sensors, dexterous hands (DM-Hand), teleoperation systems (DM-EXton / DM-EXton2 with haptic feedback, unveiled at CES 2026), and edge AI compute for robotic perception. It open-sourced 10,000 hours of tactile interaction data through its Daimon-Infinity dataset and co-launched RobOmni, a full-modal tactile benchmark with Galbot, to push the industry beyond vision-only evaluation.
Funding reflects strategic industrial backing. Daimon closed a ¥100 million Series A in June 2026 led by Inovance Technology's industrial fund and China Telecom, following earlier rounds from China Mobile, Lenovo Capital, Jinding Capital, and China Merchants Group. 36Kr reported Daimon leads the industry in visual-tactile sensor shipments. The company was recognized as a Chinese national high-tech enterprise in 2024.
For a US or UK buyer, Daimon is a specialist platform — not a home robot. Enterprise pricing, active pilot deployments in Chinese service robotics and manipulation research, and limited Western service infrastructure mean it suits dexterity-focused labs and early adopters who prioritize hand engineering over brand-name bipedal hype. If tactile manipulation is your problem, Daimon is among the most technically serious bets in China; if you need a household humanoid today, look elsewhere.
