Unitree G1
With its starting price of just $16,000, Unitree's G1 is, far and away, the most affordable general-purpose humanoid robot to buy in 2026. It's more akin to what you'd spend for the most expensive e-scooter you can buy. That's helped the G1 make humanoid robotics much more accessible to researchers, system integrators, and even prosumer developers. This review explores whether Unitree's willingness to underprice its competition, combined with a developer-focused go-to-market strategy, translates into a platform that provides genuine research and prototyping value; or if the price advantage masks reliability, software, and service gaps that drive total cost of ownership higher than the headline number suggests.
