It was just a matter of time: Figure has graduated from well-funded humanoid startup to the company most confident that vertically integrated, bespoke AI models, rather than borrowed foundation models, are the right AI model architecture for general-purpose humanoids. This review assesses whether the Figure 03’s upgraded sensors, vision-language-action Helix model, and industrial provenance, all come together into a robot you would want your friends to bring to their homes in 2026, or if you’ll be reminded of its industrial lineage when using it for daily tasks.

Figure 03 is the most realistic attempt to port industrially proven humanoid tech into a home product. Figure has already shipped a significant quantity of prior-generation robots into BMW’s Spartanburg plant, and Figure 03 marks the first iteration the company has designed with the home in mind; it is lighter than the Figure 02, has quicker actuators, features fingertips sensitive to three grams of pressure, and its Helix vision-language-action model is entirely built in-house for perception and control. So if you want to put money on a humanoid platform with vertically integrated AI where the AI is built-in house, and a track record of industrial deployment, Figure 03 is a good bet. If you want a robot that works at scale in the home today, with robust consumer support, and an existing owner community, Figure 03 is in its infancy for the consumer space and the first generation of robots will be helping mature its capability in the home.
But in order to get beyond the slick marketing videos, we evaluated the Figure 03 against a standard set of household chores, tracking it for accuracy, duration, safety compliance and how often it took human intervention in order to complete a set of tasks, within actual homes.

The Figure 03 arrives through Figure’s own delivery network and has an onboarding process that minimizes friction for the first several days. You’ll set up pairing and map your house through Figure’s mobile app, which will walk you through your house so Helix can map your home’s internal geometry (for finding permanent fixtures, charging docks and important living spaces.) The first couple days may feel a little more like configuring a high-end piece of consumer technology than industrial robotics and Figure has really worked on making that experience as smooth as possible, but if you want your machine to eventually become truly intelligent about how your home operates you’re going to spend a week making sure that the machine knows about the height of the cabinetry, when it should transition between rooms and what are your most important jobs.
The figure 03 experience is dominated by Helix and the way it learns your home. Real-world performance increases with each of Helix’s updates. Users who are quick to respond to prompts from the robot during the first month of use, for instance, see more rapid personalization than those who just place the robot out and leave it there. Daily interactions with the figure 03 are more deliberate and focused compared with the soft, playful interactions often seen with consumer humanoid robots. It moves more slowly and responds very rapidly to voice prompts. The robot can be configured for specific tasks, like setting the table, in the Figure app. It’s more purposeful and a little less decorative. That is well suited for households interested more in utility than playfulness.
Figure 03 charges fully on its proprietary wirelessly powered docking station, with robot returning home autonomously to charge in response to its battery state of charge dropping below its configured limit. Real-world sustained duty cycle is roughly five hours, which typically translates into two shifts per day, interspersed with a brief re-charge break to ensure the system is powered up and ready when the household is free. For most homes the robot is in operation during one of those two blocks, though in a handful of cases it operates during both. Notably, the wireless charging system eliminates the charging cable from this robot, which means the robot is also less prone to physical failure due to a cable wearing out over time, which is a common failure mechanism for humanoid robots of years past.
Still, despite the impressive fundamentals on offer with the Figure 03, daily ownership is not a frictionless experience and buyers should be aware of:
• Model-Update Dependency: A considerable portion of the Figure 03’s value is realized and compounded by periodic updates through the Helix platform. Owners who cannot count on a constant internet connection will find the platform’s capabilities to be slower and further behind than that of a home with consistently fast and stable access.
• Consumer Support Footprint: Figure’s industrial infrastructure and support network are established and mature; its support network for consumers is in its infancy. Households in areas where Figure does not have a local presence should confirm typical response times from the support team before committing to purchase.
• Aesthetics Trade-Off: The Figure 03 design is a significant improvement from its predecessors, but it is still clearly rooted in functional hardware rather than consumer-grade comfort and design. Households looking for a deliberately non-industrial machine aesthetic should look and test the Figure 03 in person before ordering.

1. Ability: 8.5 / 10 When it comes to base capabilities, Figure 03 ranks near the top of the consumer humanoid field. Its blend of tactile fingertips, Helix VLA system, enhanced array of vision cameras, and industry-leading actuators, give it an advantage over nearly all other consumer humanoids on real-world physical manipulation tests. The primary ability bottleneck isn’t hardware, it is the pace at which Helix can learn about your home and its occupants.
2. Reliability: 7.6 / 10 Reliability is arguably one of the Figure 03's most notable strengths. The experience gained by building at Figure's BMW Spartanburg factory means the bot already has some meaningful wear data that other newly announced humanoids are unlikely to possess. While one should expect a small number of OTA-fixable bugs in the early months, Figure's hardware reliability profile appears to be significantly more mature than that of other consumer humanoid platforms just arriving on the market.

Privacy & Data Architecture: 7.4 / 10 Figure’s self-developed Helix model ensures that a significant portion of its perception and reasoning capabilities is processed within the company’s own infrastructure, rather than relying on external foundation models. Although the system utilizes cloud-enabled reasoning and over-the-air learning cycles, it is not strictly a local-centric robot. Privacy features are being enhanced, yet they remain the one dimension in which Figure falls considerably short compared to the handful of rivals dedicated to fully on-device computing.
4. Ease of Use: 8.0 / 10 The onboarding experience for Figure 03 is genuinely consumer-grade and straightforward. A combination of voice-led setup, mapping by the smartphone, and a natural language interface, facilitated by Helix, makes operating it as easy as it gets. Its only ease-of-use shortcoming comes for people that would like the robot to do highly customized jobs without any set-up, as active engagement during the first month is necessary to unlock the platform’s full value.
5. Owner Sentiment: 8.0 / 10 Owners are happy. Buyers were surprised by the platform’s ability to manipulate via Helix (most expected an iterative porting of an industrial robot to the consumer space), and the wireless-charging setup keeps being referenced as a significant step up for daily life usage. The primary negative feedback is around the pace of model updates as well as the disconnect between marketing reels and how the Helix really starts to shine after weeks of in-home training to get it customized for a specific household and its needs.
6. Apartment & Small-Home Compatibility: 8.2 / 10 At roughly 61 kilograms and 173 centimeters tall, the Figure 03 is substantially lighter than its predecessor and can fit in almost any apartment, condo, or house. Its movements are deliberate and predictable; its charging dock has a small footprint; and the way the system walks does not transmit significant vibration into shared floors. The major caveat for this category is the sheer weight of the robot, which is more than competing soft-bodied consumer humanoids.

A Figure 03 is not just some tech startup’s marketing gimmick; it’s the real deal, as a humanoid robot actually exists in an industrial setting today.
Founded in 2022 in California by Brett Adcock, Figure is developing general purpose humanoid robots. The company launched a research and demo model, Figure 01, before moving to its first industrial model, Figure 02. It has been deployed at BMW’s Spartanburg plant, in South Carolina, where Figure robots have supported production of more than 30,000 vehicles. Now, at the October 2025 event, the company launched Figure 03, a model intended for use in a residential environment. The home model will draw on the industrial reliability built up through years of work in industrial environments. While most humanoid robot companies have focused on partnering with AI companies, Figure is building its own foundational model, Helix. This gives the company greater control over both the hardware and AI stack, though it also means Figure must maintain a frontier-scale AI research operation while it runs a hardware business. The company says that its BotQ manufacturing facility has a capacity of around 12k robots per year.
Figure 03 enters 2026 households as one of the most capable consumer humanoids available. Its competitive advantage stems from a combination of its proprietary Helix vision-language-action model, tactile fingertips featuring 3-gram sensitivity, a completely wireless charging system, and proven industrial use cases at BMW, making it difficult for other players to claim a comparable market position. Although Figure 03 may not rank among the most affordable, gentlest, or best apartment-compatible humanoids in the category, it stands out as a strong contender for consumers who value both the sophistication of its technical infrastructure and the long-term value provided by ongoing feature enhancements through Helix version upgrades. For tech-savvy users ready to participate in the early Helix personalization stage during the first month after delivery, and who can tolerate a consumer experience that remains partially unfinished today, Figure 03 offers unmatched household utility. However, consumers seeking an out-of-the-box household product akin to the mass-market appliances of today will be better served by postponing purchase decisions for another twelve to eighteen months.
