Sprout is developed by Fauna Robotics, a Bay Area designer-centric humanoid robotics startup building on animal-inspired biomechanics and soft-body technology for domestic and research applications.
Founded in the Bay Area of California by a team of robotics engineers, designers, and biomechanics researchers, Fauna Robotics is on a mission to build the most design-focused home-research humanoid platform on the US market. They believe humanoid robotics will achieve household adoption the quickest if these robots are designed to align aesthetically with the home and are constructed with an approachable biomechanics as a priority in their engineering process. Fauna Sprout is their primary product, which is currently accepting pre-orders and will roll out deliveries through to 2027. With their bio-mimicry-based design language and engineered soft-body exterior, their humanoid is distinctly separated from industrial-style competitors. Whether or not Fauna’s design-centric approach will prove to be a viable business remains the big unknown over the coming years for the company.
